This is post is about a pet peeve of mine. As you might of guessed it’s about stickers. We recently bought two very different but high quality products. I did the research to make sure we got items that would last and perform as expected. Both items are very different but designed and marketed to evoke the same emotion in the same room of your home. Which room? What feeling? What did we buy?
The Kitchen, Good times means good food, A refrigerator and cookware.
We replaced both items because the ones we had simply wore out, the life of the old fridge may have been shortened by a recent move, nonetheless it quit keeping food cold. I know, I know I said this was about stickers. So here it is. When both of these products were un-boxed they had stickers on them just like so many things we buy these days. But this is a critical juncture, it’s where a customer begins to experience their purchase. Cuisinart got it right they used a sticker had no adhesive to mar the shiny finish on our new cookware. They peeled right of leaving no trace. The company who made our fridge on the other hand paid no attention to this detail. As a result one of the REALLY COOL features of our new fridge still has sticker adhesive on it after working close to an hour to remove it. I hate it when a company is thoughtless when it comes to this and uses glue meant to keep a sticker on your bumper not the inside of your new fridge. Don’t get me wrong I really like this fridge but that enjoyment is diminished slightly every time I open the door because nobody carefully considered this small but very important detail.
In reality that’s what this is about, details. Ever hear the term” The devil is in the details”? To me that means if you don’t make sure all your details are covered it can really cost you. In the end what might seem like a insignificant detail can wind up being a thorn in your side or more importantly your customers.
